Trac to Pagure Migration
This document discusses what needs to be done to migrate trac tickets to Pagure “Issues”
Prepare Your Pagure Project
This section describes how to configure the various sections of your project
Configure The Core Settings
On the project “settings” page you need to activate the issue tracker and turn off the Fedora Notifications (after the migration the fedmsg notifications should be activated)
“Project Options” Section
Activate “Issue Tracker”, Deactivate Fedmsg Notifications, and Click on “Update”
“Hooks” Section
Select “Pagure tickets”, and check “active”, then “Update”
Uncheck fedmsg (just for the migration - turn this back on once the migration is complete)
Configure the Default Fields
Then you need to configure these default fields:
Set the Priorities
Use the ‘priority’ list from trac
- “blocker” -> weight “1”
- “critical” -> weight “2”
- “major” -> weight “3”
- “minor” -> weight “4”
- “trivial” -> weight “5”
Set the “Closed as” options
Use the “resolution” fields from trac for these values
- Fixed
- Invalid
- wontfix
- duplicate
- worksforme
Milestones
You need to add every milestone from your project (this is long list)
Configure Your Custom Fields
There are 4 types of custom fields:
- Boolean (single checkboxes)
- Text
- Link
- List (drop down list).
Setup a Default Template for Issues
You can create a custom template for creating new issues. This is in Markdown, so the format can easily be customized to your liking.

You need to do a git clone of your projects ticket repo and create the default template
$ git clone ssh://git@pagure.io/tickets/389-ds-base.git

$ mkdir templates
$ vi templates/default.md --> Write your Markdown template!
$ git add templates/default.md
$ git commit -m "Add a default template for tickets"
$ git push origin main
Configure Tags
This next screenshot is just an example of using tags. Tags are used for easy filtering and visual sorting

Note - as of right now we have to use the field name that was used in trac, and not the field label. So for bugzillas the field is “rhbz”, not “Red Hat Bugzilla”. Also you must create a custom field for each trac field you want to migrate. Any trac feild left out will be lost forever!

Migrate the Trac Tickets
Install pagure-importer
Please follow this document: Pagure Importer
Then, there is a “patch” to the import that mreynolds@redhat.com has that you will need to properly import and migrate trac data to Pagure. Bascially this patch just does wiki formating to Markdown conversions. It is not yet determined if this patch for the importer will be accepted upstream. So for now contact Mark for the new importer python scripts
Clone your projects “ticket” repo
We are using the project name “TEST for these examples
# pgimport clone ssh://git@pagure.io/tickets/TEST.git

Import the Trac Tickets

Choose the import destination repo [1]:
Push the migrated Issues to Pagure
Once the import is done, “push” the new pagure issues to your pagure project. You only get one shot as this, so you better have properly configured all your default/custom fields, etc.
# pgimport push TEST.git
Wrap Things Up
Now turn on/activate “fedmsg notifications” in the project “Options” and “Hooks” sections, and start working on Issues!
